Promoting Health and Wellbeing: A Special Morning at Abbey CE Academy
On 11th March, Abbey CE Academy hosted a special Health and Wellbeing Morning, organised by Miss Fensome from the DRET Sport Team. The event, aimed to educate Year 3 and 4 students on the importance of personal hygiene and making healthy breakfast choices. This initiative forms part of the school’s ongoing dedication to promoting health, wellbeing, and the development of positive habits among its young learners.
During the Health and Wellbeing Morning, pupils took part in various activities designed to emphasise the importance of healthy living. For the younger pupils in Year 3, the sessions focused on personal hygiene, including how to properly wash hands, the significance of brushing teeth, and the role these simple habits play in maintaining good health. They also took part in a hand-washing experiment to demonstrate how germs remain on our hands when soap is not used. Meanwhile, Year 4 pupils learned about the importance of a balanced breakfast, with practical advice on making nutritious food choices to kick-start the day. They explored the 'rainbow' of fruits and discovered the unique health benefits that different coloured fruits offer.
A big well done to all the pupils who took part!
