Abbey CE Academy Enjoys a Fun-Filled Handball Workshop

On 7th February 2025, the children at Abbey CE Academy took part in the DRET Sport Handball Workshop. We were fortunate to have Malwina Le Voi, a member of the DRET Sport team and player for Northampton Handball Club, lead this exciting and action-packed day.

The day began with an assembly that introduced the children to handball, explaining the rules of the sport before moving on to the practical sessions. The children learned how to hold the ball, dribble, and defend it effectively. The sessions concluded with a fun shooting game.

The feedback from the pupils was overwhelmingly positive. A Year 6 student said, “This is my first time playing handball and I loved it.” A Year 5 student shared, “I’m very happy I got this experience today; I would love to take part in more handball sessions.”

Overall, student feedback revealed that 91% of the children who participated "loved" the handball takeover day. Many expressed how much fun they had learning the sport, and it has inspired some to try handball again in the future. The event encouraged teamwork, fitness, and confidence. As a reward for their efforts, all participants received a certificate. Well done to everyone for making the day a success!
