About Us

At the Abbey CE Academy, we offer quality primary education to children aged 7-11 years. There are seven classes: two year three classes, three year four & five classes and two year six classes.

Our school values everyone. We respect and encourage individuals to be confident, happy and caring. Together, we are enthusiastic about learning and aim to be the best.

Our philosophy

We encourage our students to develop their social skills and give them room for personal development.

We encourage our students to strive towards meaningful goals and support them as they solve the problems they encounter so that they gain increased levels of autonomy.

We encourage our students to develop their own personality and to discover their own individual paths towards adulthood.

Your Mission

In this, your school, you will discover the confidence to explore the strength of your imagination and sometimes even the power to overwhelm.

You will come to enjoy the surprise of inspirational achievement and the experience of sharing in it together. You will learn to expect standards of yourself you didn’t think you could reach. Everyone will expect the best from everyone else.

You will understand more about the uniqueness of you and about each person’s special place in our community and the wider world.

When the time comes for you to leave, our aim is that you will take with you the memory of a remarkable journey and a determination to go on to be the best that you can be.

Abbey Church of England Academy is a school that unlocks your potential for you to “lift the lid on life.”

Christian Distinctiveness

As a Church of England Academy within the Diocese of Peterborough, we strive to nurture the whole child: mind, body and spirit.

Our Christian foundation is at the heart of our ethos and our aim is for that to come through not only in what we teach, but how.

We have a strong, productive and supportive relationship with the local church and there are many opportunities for children to support their local community, as well as consider their role within the wider world.

Christian Values:

One of the key themes in the last few years is how Christian Values are intrinsic to our lives. The children have had the opportunity to explore them through a “collapsed curriculum” day, to reflect on them during Collective Worship and to consider how they have an impact on daily life in the classroom.

We want the children to leave the Abbey Church of England Academy knowing that they can have a positive impact on the world, and start living the values and attitudes that will change society for the better.

Our school's main strengths lie in:

  • promoting creating a supportive environment where we value everyone
  • respecting and encouraging individuals to be confident, happy and caring
  • nurturing constructive relationships with parents
  • academic learning through curriculum and extracurricular activities
  • together we are enthusiastic about learning and aim to be the best
